‘I’m open. We need both sides and if we’re unfortunate enough to get Hillary as our next President, we need her on our side. Although she won’t be. She couldn’t care less about women. She cares about herself.’
The 66-year-old former Olympian, who came under fire last week after endorsing Republican Ted Cruz, laid into the Democratic Presidential candidate while trying to justify her conservative views to her friends from the trans community.
After learning that the women planned to attend a Democratic national debate during their bus road trip around the United States, Caitlyn moaned: ‘It’s the last place I want to be.’
But when activist pal Chandi Moore suggested she should be open to hearing both sides, she said: ‘I’m open. We need both sides and if we’re unfortunate enough to get Hillary as our next President, we need her on our side. Although she won’t be. She couldn’t care less about women. She cares about herself.’
Caitlyn, who was seen coming face to face with Hillary in a preview for the rest of the series, was quizzed about her controversial conservative views during the season two premiere of I Am Cait.
Asked by author friend Jenny Boylan which Republican candidate she thought would be most supported of transgender people, she replied: ‘All of them. None of the Republicans are ”I hate trans people” or ”I hate gays”. They do nothing of that. I want a driving economy so every trans person has a job.’
A clearly frustrated Candis Cayne, who has been a close friend of Caitlyn’s since she transitioned, sighed: ‘I don’t understand why she thinks that. Democrats are more open to transgender views and in general Republicans are more conservative about that and they don’t want to give LGBT rights to our community.’
But things became more heated when Jenny brought up the repealing of The Hero Act in Houston, Texas – a campaign led by a group of ministers and Republicans – and relentlessly pressed Caitlyn for her views.
‘Republicans and conservatives are not these horrible people who are trying oppress people,’ the reality TV star argued.
Asked who she thought was responsible for the overturning of the ordinance, Caitlyn said: ‘The public. They’re uninformed. The politicians didn’t even vote on it. They just put it on the ballot. This is not a Democrat or Republican issue. This is a humanity issue.’
While Jenny claimed that no Republican candidate had spoken out in support of the trans community, Caitlyn claimed: ‘They’re just not talking about it. For the Republicans it’s not a big issue. The economy’s the big issue. They’re just worried about 18 trillion dollars of debt.’
Addressing the camera, Caitlyn complained: ‘Sometimes these girls think now that I’ve transitioned everything has to change. You can’t be conservative any more, you have to be a liberal.
‘I don’t believe that. I can keep all my views the same because in my heart I feel that’s the best way to go,’ Caitlyn said.
But pal Jenny warned: ‘If she doesn’t listen to the community, I think she’s going to find herself isolated and irrelevant.’
Caitlyn also opened up to her friends about her sexuality for the first time and revealed that she would like to date a man.
‘I can’t see myself dating women in the future. I’ve been there, done that, got three very strong ex-wives,’ she said.
When Jenny suggested she could add an ex-husband into the mix, she laughed: ‘That’s right. Now I can have an ex-husband. I don’t see a woman being attracted to me.’
Caitlyn, who added that she has not yet been with a man, spoke in greater detail to the camera and confessed: ‘Talking about my sexuality is really difficult for me and I want to literally shrivel up and hide inside me. I really don’t want to go there, but I am totally outnumbered on this bus.
‘If I was in a relationship with a guy, I would enjoy being treated like that – opening doors for you, doing all the things you would think of as traditional stuff in a guy and girl relationship. It would take a very special guy to be able to that, but yeah I would be open to that.
‘If there was a female in my life, it would be more like friendship than a serious relationship. I said what everyone wants to hear – that I would date a man – and it’s kind of nice to get that off your chest,’ she added.
